Experimental Psychologist in the Digital Wellbeing Program will collaborate with the Computer Scientist, and Sociologist to conduct experiments and studies on the behavior of individuals to understand their relationship with digital solution and social media platforms. Furthermore, the psychologist will explore an immense variety of psychological phenomena, ranging from learning to personality to cognitive processes and how the digital space impacting all that. The experimental psychologist will also explore how to influence individual behaviors, and what are the techniques implemented in digital platform the exploit human weaknesses, and how to overcome them.
It is expected that the psychologist will adhere to the basic steps in the scientific method when conducting research, from formulating a hypothesis to sharing findings, and finally publishing research papers.
A successful candidate will hold a PhD degree in Experimental Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, or other relevant psychology fields from a recognized and approved program.
The candidate shall have a minimum of 8 years of experience in studying behaviors and individuals, conducting psychological experiments, and publishing research papers and reports.
The candidate shall be able to demonstrate high experience in conducting previous experiments and studying the impact of external factors on individual behaviors.
The candidate should have published research publications as a first-author in appropriate peer-reviewed journals in related fields.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop research proposals that will contribute in revealing the impact of excessive digital usage on individuals’ behaviors, and the tech practices that exploits human weaknesses.
Design digital wellbeing research projects to test theories, and how excessive digital platforms and social media usage, and online content affect individuals’ behaviors.
Collect and analyze data through global surveys, observations, interviews, social media posts, local and international reports, and other resources.
Build hypothesis from the collected data and draw conclusions out of them.
Prepare and publish scientific research papers, reports, articles, and presentations on their research findings.
Research and evaluate potential research and knowledge partners for the Digital Wellbeing projects.
Collaborate with other researchers, social scientist, psychologists, policy makers, governmental and NGOs, to conduct research and propose policies that will limit the negative impact of excessive digital usage and social media addiction.
Contribute in conducting literature reviews to further understand the issues of excessive digital usage and social media addiction.
