About The Role

Responsible to lead and standardize process improvement, and service reporting tools and techniques, bringing transparency to operational and process performance with the purpose of delivering enhancements in productivity and quality. Challenge operational ways of working and planning, to develop a rhythm and routine that embeds continuous improvement across Airside Operations. Takes the lead to develop business change, providing analytical and project management support in the development of departmental strategic plans in partnership with Airside Operations Line and Shift Management.


  • Develop strategic project management methodologies, process improvement frameworks and implement change of new operational models to support airside operations.
  • Provide insights following the analysis of case studies, trends to support strategic planning and contribute to the process improvement in all QAS Airside departments. Design and implement a methodology for continuous improvement based on data and field observations.
  • Develop a holistic continuous improvement concept for airside operations (together with HOD), embed a culture of continuous improvement and prepare full implementation.
  • Implement advanced and strategic operations concepts, create what-if scenarios (merging positions) evaluate changes in tasks and assess operational and financial impact of the scenarios to the business.
  • Nurture a fact-driven, pro-active decision-making culture in QAS Airside Operations


  • Oversee operational performance with full ownership of the development of a joint airside KPI dashboard, set clear, understandable and visible targets for airside operations.
  • Focus on planned resources vs. actual operational results and provide detailed improvement plans to QAS planning team in order to adopt in HC and equipment planning.
  • Streamline operational processes to improve performance whilst engagement standards are closely and regularly being monitored and adjusted based on a more safe and more efficient operational demand coverage
  • Coordinate with Head of Airside Operations to introduce management techniques (Lean, Time & Motion) to the team in order to increase business efficiencies. Eliminate inefficiencies through the adjustment of engagement standards.
  • Liaise with planning team and resource allocation teams for any engagement standards adjustments required for a better ops coverage and provide detailed insight to enable better Resource Management decision-making.
  • Monitor any staff performance improvement action plans developed by line management whilst actively participating in such developments.
  • Ensure research and analysis is conducted on a regular basis with an objective of improving productivity, quality and minimizing cost in developing processes, planning and engagement standards
  • Contribute to health and safety of employees within associated areas, promoting safe working environment and just culture principles.
  • Work with business unit stakeholders to analyze and study the root causes of incidents, accidents and service lapses, and design and implement the solutions to ensure continuous improvement.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 8 years of job-related experience
  • Experience of leading, managing, inspiring and engaging a large multi-cultural workforce.
  • Expert knowledge of hub ground handling operational procedures.
  • Sound understanding of the Airside Operational activity of a Ground Handler
  • Command of English language
  • Must possess a strong, decisive and collaborative leadership style
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, equality and respect.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clear, concise and consistent messages.
  • A change agent, results oriented who can deliver innovative execution at pace.
  • Understands the value of high customer service delivered within a cost conscious culture.
  • Strength in learning and development; mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Business Intelligence Software (e.g. Power BI).
  • Proven performance improvements.
  • Preferred – Advanced knowledge of Workforce Management Software (e.g. Inform GS Planning)
