Job Purpose

Perform tasks related to the Installation, testing, and maintenance of corrosion control and monitoring systems to prevent company Onshore and Offshore facilities from risk of internal and external corrosion. Conducts corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection surveys using the required instruments and makes preliminary interpretations. Prepare inspection reports with all findings, abnormalities and recommendations. Implements computerized inspection management program through Meridum. Maintain testing instruments in proper condition with necessary calibration records.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s) – I

Exercises judgment when planning corrosion control and monitoring programs, interpreting survey results, and recommending corrosion mitigation measures. Work is subject to review and direction by Lead and Head of Corrosion.

Works within established structures, procedures, engineering standards and methodologies developed and implemented by the Head of Corrosion and Integrity and Reliability Manager.

Financial Dimension

As defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/or approved budget. Does not have own budget authority.

Key Job Accountabilities – I

Maintain effective performance Measures for all cathodic protection and corrosion monitoring devices. Monitor installation, testing and commissioning of cathodic protection projects being conducted by contractors to ensure conformity with Company and international specification.

Arrange for CIPS / DCVG surveys. Perform preliminary interpretation for survey results and develop plan to implement survey findings in conjunction with corrosion Engineer.

Recognize corrosion related concerns and perform field tests, such as structure-to-soil potential, current measurement, voltage measurement etc, and evaluate data collected to ensure effective operation of cathodic protection system.

Key Job Accountabilities – II

Assembles, sets up and operates a variety of instruments and equipment to collect and maintain data related to the corrosion status of pipelines and other structures.

Perform corrosion checks to assess internal and or external corrosion severity and works with paint inspector to conduct quality control checks for new paint jobs. Performs inspection of all metallic structures for the presence of corrosion activity and for the integrity of linings and coatings.

Install and retrieve corrosion coupons, probes, chemical injection probes utilizing high-pressure retrieval tool. Data analysis and reporting in conjunction with Corrosion Engineer. Conducts or assists in conducting a variety of field and laboratory tests related to the investigation and prevention of corrosion.

Key Job Accountabilities – III

Ensure Proper maintenance of corrosion monitoring reports and records. Maintains various records in computerized systems, updating corrosion monitoring test results and other corrosion control data in specialized inspection software systems.

Prepare input for SAP systems and stock control information for all corrosion control and monitoring systems such as coupons, probes, anodes, test post and cathodic protection/monitoring instruments.

Support for shutdown corrosion inspection planning and execution of corrosion inspection jobs during the shutdown. Implements Corrosion control & related inspection recommendation by notifications raised through SAP and then tracking the progress till completion of work.

Responsible for the support of Company safety, environment and Quality policies and programs, carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents.


HND in Engineering with 4 years of in-service inspection experience or Engineering degree with 2 years in-service inspection experience.

Knowledge and/or Experience – I

HND, 4 years’ or Engineering degree, 2 years in-service inspection experience.

Experience in corrosion control and monitoring in oil and gas fields.

Technical and Business Skills – I

Proficient written and spoken English.

Computer literate.

Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels with the Organisation.
